Whitley Bay Links and Beach - stretches for two miles of golden sand between St Mary’s Island and Lighthouse and Cullercoats. The area has an abundance of restaurants, cafes, shops, and surfing. This makes this beach one of the most popular beaches around. The promenade makes for an especially attractive walk, with views over the North Sea. The Links golfing area runs right behind the beach, and the Edwardian Spanish City has recently been relaunched with various dining options including fish and chips.

St. Mary's Lighthouse and Visitor Centre - Reached between the tides via a short causeway. The Lighthouse, completed in 1898 on a hazardous coast for shipping, remained operational until 1984. Today a Nature Reserve which has an area of rockpools, clifftop grassland, a beach and newly created wetland habitats.
